Sustainabilty
Capability

We pride ourselves on the quality of fish products, service level, flexibility and reliability. In addition we have a very proactive and highly successful development department, which monitors market trends, creating fish products to meet consumer
and customer needs.
— Technical Team —
Our customer is central to everything we do and is the reason we have a cross collaborative technical team to coach individuals in all aspects of our business.
We take pride ensuring colleagues are trained to consistently deliver the first-class service and food safety standards we are known for.
At Thistle Seafoods, our technical strategy is built on four core principles: food safety, integrity, legality, and quality.
Food safety
Under the guidance of our hygiene manager, who supports, coaches, and directs our colleagues, we have formed an excellent hygiene team to uphold and deliver our first-class food safe standards.
Integrity
KPIs and metrics are used to analyse emerging trends to protect and enhance our technical integrity across all our operations.
Legality
We take our legal responsibilities seriously from sustainability and environmental responsibilities to ethical sourcing, ensuring our business fully complies with current legislation.
Quality
At Thistle Seafoods, we believe in ‘Doing the Basics Better’. Our technical team drives the quest for continuous improvement in quality across our sites, coaching individuals while empowering teams to uphold the highest standards of food safety and quality.
Our technical team is made up of highly trained and experienced professionals who embody our commitment to continuous improvement. Through comprehensive training and development programmes, we ensure every colleague has the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their role.
At the heart of our operations is a state-of-the-art, on-site UKAS-accredited laboratory. Overseen by a dedicated GMP Inspector responsible for reducing foreign body risks, the lab conducts microbiological and allergenic analyses. We maintain rigorous vigilance to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across our facilities.
In the pursuit of excellence, our multi-disciplinary team works collaboratively to improve quality across our operations. This includes thorough, risk-based supplier approvals and audits, as well as the implementation of robust HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP protocols to manage hazards, threats, and vulnerabilities.
Our dedication to auditing is reflected in our achievement of an unannounced BRCGS AA+ rating. This is supported by a comprehensive internal audit schedule that ensures we consistently meet – and exceed – the most stringent industry standards.
