Hygiene Cleaner

The Role  

Hygiene Cleaners are responsible for cleaning the factory.  The majority of the work is undertaken within the production area and includes cleaning floors, walls, ceilings and all machines and equipment. It is essential that the correct cleaning products and/or chemicals and equipment are used at all times. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Cleaning all machines and equipment to an exceptionally high standard using the appropriate cleaning methods. 
  • Cleaning all floors, walls and ceilings to an exceptionally high standard using the appropriate cleaning methods. 
  • Using care and paying attention to detail when breaking down machines, cleaning and then reassembling them.  The reassembly instructions must be followed. 
  • Assist with setting up the production lines so they are ready for production at 6.00am.  This includes helping to move equipment/machines. 
  • Immediately reporting to the hygiene supervisors or hygiene manager if any equipment is broken or damaged.  This includes water ingress or plugs being damaged. 
  • Using safe and effective cleaning practises at all times. 
  • Ensuring cleaning practises do not damage machines, equipment or any of the surrounding areas.  
  • Undertake any hygiene/cleaning related tasks as requested and/or directed by other departments and/or senior managers. 
  • Work to Health and Safety and Food Safety Standards, and where possible exceed requirements.   
  • Complete ad hoc duties for chargehands, supervisors and managers as and when required. 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

  • Previous cleaning experience would be preferable.

Hours of Work 

Your normal contractual hours of work are 40 hours per week. The normal hours of work are nightshift 22.00hrs to 06.00hrs Monday to Friday inclusive. Or you will work an 8 day shift pattern.  You will work 4 consecutive shifts of 12 hours per day, followed by 4 consecutive days off.  In any such 8 day period, you will work 48 hours.
