Warehouse Manager

The Role 

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the effective organisation and management of the internal stores. This includes coordinating the intake, storage, and supply of raw materials for production, as well as the supply of finished products to customers. The role requires a strong understanding of the end-to-end supply chain and close collaboration with the Production, Chilled Coding, Commercial, and Buying teams. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the site’s internal stores and ensure all stock booking-in and booking-out processes are consistently followed. 
  • Resolve issues promptly, liaising with relevant departments to ensure accurate and timely communication of information. 
  • Organise and oversee stock takes as required. 
  • Investigate stock discrepancies, provide detailed reports on root causes, and implement preventative measures. 
  • Plan intake schedules and distribute to the appropriate administration team members. 
  • Manage stock transfers to and from approved external storage facilities, coordinating with relevant departments. 
  • Liaise with the Engineering team regarding maintenance and repair of racking, counterbalance forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet trucks. 
  • Ensure weekly equipment checks are carried out and all faults are recorded and actioned. 
  • Carry out all line management responsibilities, including: 
  • Allocating and managing staff resources. 
  • Identifying training needs and ensuring they are addressed. 
  • Leading, motivating, and supervising the team effectively. 
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations at all times. 
  • Support and enforce company policies across all areas of responsibility. 
  • Support and actively promote brand integrity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by ensuring there is engagement and communication between teams, customers and suppliers that continually drives improvement. 
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by Directors and/or Senior Managers. 
  • Carry out any other duties required within the scope of the role.

Knowledge and Experience 

  • Experience with computerised purchasing and stock control systems. 
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy, with proficiency in English. 
  • Forklift licence and/or experience operating forklifts. 
  • Proven experience managing warehouse or stores teams. 

Hours of Work 

  • Your normal contractual hours of work are 40 hours per week.  Your working times will vary and will depend on the demands of the role and the needs of the business.  However, it is anticipated your normal working hours will 7.00am and 4.00pm Mondays to Fridays inclusive with an unpaid lunch break of one hour. 
  • There will be a requirement to weekends in order to supervise and complete stock takes.
