Established in 1947, Thistle Seafoods is a 5th generation family-owned business and is one of the largest family-owned manufacturers of quality seafood products in Europe.
Our state-of-the-art, fully accredited manufacturing facilities allow us to meet all our supply demands, and although we specialise in chilled and frozen ‘value added’ seafood, our manufacturing flexibility means we can satisfy any product request.
We supply outstanding products at every price point to leading retail and food service customers within the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, and Australia.
Our Head Office and centre of excellence for coated products is based in Peterhead in the North-East of Scotland, and our second site, based in Uddingston on the outskirts of Glasgow, is our distribution centre and centre of excellence for value added products.
Thistle is an endorser of GDST – Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability
We have recognised the requirement to have full traceability i.e., back to farm or fishing vessel.
We view GDST as a “game changer’ for the sector – will need to be implemented via phased /incremental implementation.
We are presently reviewing a short-list of potential service providers and awaiting the results of compliance testing from GDST which will also assess the interoperability of the software providers.
